If I could vent for a moment

Maybe I am the only one that isnt completely bothered by the fact that there arent flames shooting out of the gun. Considering we've never made a real movie, and this is our first attempt at doing so, I dont think people are necessarily expecting it to be 100 percent legitimate.

If we can get them done, so be it. Yes it would add a lot to the movie, but as I've been taught, all the flashy effects in the world cant make up for a shitty movie. If the movie is good on its own, the stupid fucking flares will be icing on the cake, theyre not the main ingredient.

The movie is already coming out leagues better than expected, and I can fully say that even without the flares, I still think we have a kick ass thing going for us. This is where my original idea of creatively shooting the scene to show the gun shots as little as possible will come in to play so we dont have to have debates over whether the movie will flop because we dont have fire crackers coming out of the guns. Its going to be good regardless, and yes, it would add a little more "realism" to a movie thats going to have peoples heads getting punched through.

Not sure if that was directed at me or not, but I understand what you're saying. They aren't necessary. Sound effects have more impact than alot of people realize and clever editing can avoid many problems. But for me personally, I think it would be really cool if we got them (particularly for a frontal camera shot like we used there). There's no point stressing over it too much but there's also no reason to not seek some help if we can get it.

And I agree the movie is coming along leagues better than expected which is part of why I get so psyched about little things like this.

i wasnt directing it at anyone in particular. Just anybody who has said, we need the fire from the guns, which has been a few. I just get frustrated because people say it to me, after ive said 100 times I dont know how to do it. I'd like to see them too dont get me wrong guys. But I want to finish the actual movie part before the effects become any sort of priority for me personally. We could learn all the computer effects we need but if we have no finished product to put it over, what good is it?

I've posted in three different places seeking help because I know how much you guys want the stuff, but I am still yet to get a response.

I took a look at the shit Egan was talking about, and it does in fact seem like it can work with relative ease. So Egan has the ball on that matter, and hopefully will run with it, so our movie will in fact make people rip raging boners when they see it.

Lets finish this thing and show it to the masses (all 12 people we know)

Well now that everything is settled, good. But, I know it has been something Tommy has been looking for for a long time. I looked at it and it is doable. As I have said, it doesn't hurt for me to take my extra time and apply it to this. John brought up a good point also, Barry is correct in saying that if you make a shitty movie, all the effects in the world won't save it, but we aren't making a shitty movie, we are making a good movie, and adding effects to a good movie make it that much better.

Overall, I agree, this is something that if we can do it..amazing, but we shouldn't be straining our brains on it, but since it seems we have various options to actually make it happen, then we should run with them until it seems like they won't work out.

Either way, little things add a lot, but if they can't be done, they won't take away from an already good movie. If we have time, which I do, we should look into those little things.
